Cathedral Kitchen30
years, over a million meals
Volunteer
Begun by volunteers, the Cathedral Kitchen has always relied
heavily on volunteer help to make the feeding program work. Although
there is now paid staff to plan and prepare meals, volunteers still
form an integral part of the ministry of the Kitchen. |

ServiceService volunteers help to make the nightly meal program a success. On any given night, up to 10 people donate their time and energy to help serve an average of 275 guests. Individuals and groups are welcome. Young people must be over the age of 16 to serve at the Kitchen.Volunteers help to plate food and deliver the plates to tables, seat dinner guests and clean up the dining area when dinner is over. Dinner is served from 4:00 to 5:00 PM. Volunteers should arrive by 3:30 PM and are usually finished by 5:30 PM. Due to the numbers of volunteers needed, it is important to register your intention to serve with our Volunteer Coordinator, Sr. Jean Spena. Please call Sr. Jean at 338-1529 if you would like to get onto the schedule. |
Pick-Up/DeliveryFrom time to time, the Cathedral Kitchen is offered food or other items for its program that must be picked up and delivered to the Kitchen. The Kitchen does not own a truck, so sometimes we are not able to accept these donations. If you have a truck and are available during the day on weekdays, please think about donating some time to us on an occasional basis. |
